The Cost of Managing Cost
I’m Ken Beer, the founder of Kildrummy. I have been in this business a long time.
In the last month, PSMs in two major multinational companies have asked me how best to convince their managements that it would be a good idea to stop relying on spreadsheets for project cost control.
This is a question I have been addressing since 1986. It shows no signs of going away.
Maybe it’s a problem you have?
About 12 months ago our VP Global Sales, Chris Why, created five short videos (“CostCasts”) which explore the main issues with using spreadsheets for project cost management.
Find them here:
Let me know if you find these CostCasts useful, and let me know if there is more that we can do to help you make your case. Spreadsheets are wonderful tools and no cost engineer would work without them, but there are downsides which must be confronted.
